I don't know how often it happens to you, but dissecting web pages to discover and learn new techniques is common practice for me. In these geek operations - or almost -, Firefox, Mozilla and their infinite extensions really come in handy.
In these days I have come across an extension named Aardvark several times: once installed, it is activated from the context menu and allows to easily highlight and identify page elements and to change some of their graphical features.
The other tool that continually amazes me with its usefulness and completeness is the Web Developer Extension by Chris Pederick. Install it and you will have an eye on every aspect of your pages: you can view style sheets, scripts, a list of all images on the page, links, validate code and a lot of other nice things.
