Monet: Water lilies all around
The other day granitas took me to the Musée de l'Orangerie.
There are two elliptical rooms and, on the walls, two complete cycles of water lilies painted by that magician Monet: you are there, in the midst of all the people, the selfies, the museum noise, and while you are there you are also with Monet in his garden, repeatedly, thinking how to paint the impression of being right inside that garden, immersed. You're there arranging the light and shadow, keeping the colours at bay, setting up a sunset where sky and earth and everything merge, then down there you make night come. Sometimes you think you can hardly speak.
At one point the guard pulls you out of the dream, the hall closes early. As you come to your senses and leave, you know that the echo of that thinking together with Monet will stay with you, like some kind of long note.
